From the Client

“When I had the idea for a specific boat I wanted, none existed. Realizing the only way to get such a boat was to build, I consulted Mike Bredesen, who has over thirty years in the marine industry, with specialization in custom projects of all size and scope.

From a beginning of crude drawings and multiple revisions of the design parameters, to a fantastically finished product, Mike coordinated multiple and constantly changing aspects of the build, from hull integrity to propulsion systems to custom fabrication of parts seen and unseen, to a final fit and finish that is superb.

This project is named THE ALOHA EXPRESS …. A 30′ power catamaran designed to give access, easy launch and recovery of standup paddleboards to any location as the weather conditions may require. As anyone can see from the images, she is a unique vessel, but we discovered there are far more uses than only as a board caddie and delivery ride!

The stability, smooth ride, load capacity and fuel efficiency are unprecedented, and the uses for this vessel could easily include inshore fishing for multiple anglers, a support vessel for sailing events including teaching, support, and competition, a photographic platform that is fantastically stable, and as a support vessel for swim events including open water triathlons.

Where no existing part, mold, or tool could achieve what we intended, Flat Island designed on their own as well as with other specific manufacturers everything necessary to complete this concept. This boat has multiple innovations not present on any marine vessel, and I am certain there is no other marine project that has these developments.

Mike and the entire crew at Flat Island Boatworks did an exceptional job on my project, and the Aloha Express absolutely turns heads everywhere she operates.”
